Programming Note: Join Me For A Substack Live Discussion Tonight At 5 PM ET
Behind The Headlines With Andrew Weissmann, Vol. 3.2.b
Tonight at 5 PM ET—I’m joining Joyce Vance for a Substack Live chat about life, the law, and (naturally) our dogs. Innis is ready for his close-up and, as usual, will probably steal the show (along with his two new Substack friends)!
If you’re already subscribed to Behind the Headlines and have the Substack app, you’ll get a notification when we go live and can jump right in. If you don’t have the app, now’s a great time to download it so you’re ready to join the conversation.
Got questions for us? Drop them in the comments, here—we’d love to hear from you.
Looking forward to connecting with you all.
— Andrew

Andrew, I’ve left a couple of comments on Joyce’s Substack, but have one more. I just saw a post by Timothy Snyder on BlueSky that said that Musk removed the funding for finding Ukrainian children who were kidnapped by Russian troops and sent to Russia for adoption by “wealthy” families. Yale was leading that effort and now they have no funding for it. I think it is pretty clear that Trump and Musk are working for Putin and this latest act seems to me that it qualified for treason. What can we do lawfully to get these traitors out of the WH? And it goes beyond Trump and Musk to his entire cabinet and the Republican Congress. It seems to me that urgent measures are needed here, as the courts may be too slow and can they enforce their rulings if Trump decides not to comply?
Just as as a follow-up to Renee’s comment above: many of the Ukrainian children taken from their own families and moved to Russia will almost certainly have problems with PTSD and attachment problems. It takes too long to discuss this thoroughly here but it is tragic if funding has been cut to locate and return the children to their Ukrainian families. Courts seem to be doing all they can but it takes time and who will enforce court decisions? (sorry I cannot join online but will try to listen later)
