This week, I joined John to talk about the increasingly aggressive—and deeply troubling—attacks Donald Trump is launching against the judiciary. We dove into why Trump’s attempt to pressure the courts over the deportation of roughly 200 Venezuelan migrants—many of whom are only alleged to have gang affiliations—marks what I believe is the first real constitutional crisis of this new Trump era.
We also discussed Chief Justice John Roberts’ rare and striking public defense of U.S. District Judge James Boasberg, following Trump’s demand for his impeachment. That kind of rebuke from the Chief Justice speaks volumes about how serious the threat to judicial independence has become.
And while Trump used his recent speech at the Department of Justice to go after me personally—calling me “scum”—what struck me more wasn’t the insult, but the setting. That speech, delivered at DOJ headquarters, carried an authoritarian undertone that should concern every American who cares about the rule of law.

Whatever happened to “Never Again” — what anyone with a conscience says after visiting the Holocaust Museum. Rounding up people with no rights to show their innocence, sending them to a concentration camp in a foreign country (as done by Hitler). The only difference is planes are used to transport instead of boxcars. If they can get away with this, they can get away with disappearing anyone they don’t like. Including any one us.
Wear it as a badge of honor Andrew. He is terrified of you. I would pay to watch you interrogate him in a courtroom. He’d break in 5 minutes if you got your hands on him.
