As the federal court overseeing NYC Mayor Eric Adams’ criminal case considers dismissing the charges at the request of the Department of Justice, a pressing question arises: will Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg pursue accountability under state law?
We’ve seen this movie before—when federal authorities balked in the past, Bragg stepped in, most notably in the Donald Trump criminal case. There are clear state crimes that are analogues of the 5 federal charges against Mayor Adams. Given Bragg's ongoing indictment of a top Adams advisor for bribery and money laundering, could Bragg now do the same with Adams himself?
