Thanks Andrew. I love youโre coming up with solutions and not just reporting the issues. It provides us with some hope. Congress are you listening? ๐๐บ๐ธ
I read your piece online yesterday. Thank you for such a thoughtful and creative legal solution to this problem. It makes me dare to hope that if this, and the ideas you present in LK, become part of the public conversation things might in some cases actually be better after "our long national nightmare" is over. Norms that were ineffective will be strengthened, and new legislation passed to avoid what we have experienced under the current Administration. Thank you, as always.
OOops!! guess I should have two cups of coffee before I comment.....Sorry.... I know, really I do, that it's 'Andrew' and I love your new book. Again, my sincere apology....
Retaliatory legal action eats up the money of Trump's target while eating up government resources -- so we the people (as supporters of the target and as taxpayers) get hit twice
Another book to order! Having once served as Foreperson of a New York Grand Jury I enjoyed your take on a relatively quick fix. โNo Bill Hillโ was my nickname.
Hi Mr. Weissmann, How about when the retaliatory indictment and vindictive prosecution has gone to completion? When there is a corrupt cabal and no federal court involved, a corrupt trifecta of state bar prosecutor, a few crony corrupt district judges and a far right Supreme court? Isn't the option federal court?
I appreciate your work and look forward to your book.
Thank you for these thoughts. Or proposals! I do hope Congress will pay attention to this. Congress. . .Listen up!! Yes indeed. Trump has taught us that โnormsโ need to become laws! We have taken so much for granted all these years in our country. For good reason. Iโm 83 and shocked by the tearing down of so much of our rule of law and norms that I thought were rock solid! I am even naive enough to be shocked that there are so many people trying to help Trump tear our democracy apart. We need laws to shore up these vulnerabilities. And we need a Supreme Court that is nonpartisan. There is another area which has truly shocked me. Silly me. . . I used to think the Supreme Court knew how to get it right most of the time and cherished our Constitution with rulings to fit modern society. Boy, was I dumb about all of this!
I had to chuckle when you said "seashell case" and the closed captioning said "Seychelles case." Because, of course, "seashell case" sounds nonsensical.
Thank you Mr. Weissmann for all that you do to preserve our democracy! I appreciate your efforts to educate those of us who are not in the legal profession as to what is lawful. I think you have made an excellent suggestion. I was also wondering if victims of retaliatory, frivolous grand jury indictments could have their legal expenses reimbursed if there is no indictment? Again, thanks for all that you do.
Thank you! yes, grand jury institutions have to be strengthened and the Gov lawyers should have consequences for failing to present critical information in order to have a favorable outcome. Weaponizing the DOJ to force those accused of bogus charges to have huge resources to defend themselves. thethrumper regime modus operandi. Got your book!
This is a marvelously simple idea that you express so clearly. Without your clear explanations, many things that are confusing would be obtuse to me. Thank you for your hard work.
Thank you, Mr. Weissmann for an extremely informative column. It's tiring that this administration has the nerve to go after anyone for anything Trump wants whether stupid or just plain retaliatory. Blanche is so much worse than Bondi. His mouth must be so tired of kissing such a big ass or is tired of just lying for that big ass. Either way is totally disgusting. Hopefully, when the Dems come back into control the first thing after impeachment is getting rid of Blanche.

Very thoughtful and totally doable. I hope members of congress take this idea and run with it! Thank you!!
Keep us informed on this great idea. Looking for bipartisan bill presented in Congress!
What a wonderful, common sense solution! I love it!
Excellent relatively quick fix for a real problem. Thank you, Robert!
Robert?!?
OOops!! guess I should have two cups of coffee before I comment.....Sorry.... I know, really I do, that it's 'Andrew' and I love your new book. Again, my sincere apology....
Iโm sure the Andrew whose career I follow was both amused and curious about Robert!

Yeah - how come DOGE didn't come up with this idea when they were improving government efficiency?
Lol

When is your audio version of your book available for those of us with visual or reading challenges?
it is available NOW! And I am reading it!
Iโve been listening! Itโs good to have him read it to us.
