Damage to the System
Our new Main Justice podcast episode
This week we cover some important stories that have gone under the radar.
Here’s one: the Inspector General’s report on Pete Hegseth’s use of Signal to communicate bombing plans just hours before the attack which the IG finds endangered the mission and the troops. A link to the report is in the show notes.
Here’s another: Judge Beryl Howell’s scathing decision on the lawless arrests of immigrants in Washington, D.C. The treatment of these people is not the only shocking part - the government as the judge documents, repeatedly admits that it is violating the Fourth Amendment when it is making these arrests. Over and over again the government says it is not using “probable cause” (which the constitution requires), but a lesser standard. She enjoins the practice. A link to her decision is in the show notes.
Here’s a third: Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche publicly chastised companies for making allegedly inconsistent claims about the DOJ’s enforcement policies about white-collar crime, but Blanche’s own comments are logically inconsistent themselves And his claim that the administration is taking white-collar criminal cases seriously is inconsistent with, yes, the data.
We also of course discuss the Supreme Court’s redistricting decision, as well as the latest regarding the Letitia James case.
Quite a week of news. Stay engaged!

All the stories flooding the system from every which way still haven't answered the main problem: Enforcement.
How will ANY of these court decisions be ENFORCED when we have a majority party that refuses to DO so?
IOW, a complicit cabinet approved by a complicit party.
I'd love to here an answer to this question from two people I very much respect.
So happy it was MJ Tuesday, and today was no exception. With so many legal issues to cover, you and Mary delivered an exceptionally informative episode. I am wondering how the Supreme Court’s ruling on gerrymandering will affect future elections! Very grateful to you both!
