Prosecutors Quit Over Trump DOJ Directive to Dismiss Mayor Adams Case – [BTH, Vol 2.4.a]
Emil Bove, Trump’s acting Deputy Attorney General of the DOJ, had issued a directive to the federal prosecutors in SDNY to dismiss the NYC Mayor Eric Adams criminal case.
The head of the NY prosecutor’s office (Danielle Sassoon, who was selected by the incoming Trump administration and is no liberal firebrand - far from it) has just quit rather than carry out the order, which she clearly believed smacked of politics (which I agree with wholeheartedly). And other prosecutors at Main Justice have reportedly quit as well, rather than carry out the order.
Here is Danielle Sassoon’s letter explaining her position. It’s devastating.
These prosecutors are upholding their oaths of office and living by their commitment to the rule of law. They are not "the deep state;" they are the best of career officials upholding the rule of law.
We are seeing a repeat of Trump 1.0, when federal prosecutors also quit rather than carry out political orders. Please know that this phenomenon of career prosecutors quitting is exceedingly rare—the only other time in history that this has happened to my memory is the Saturday Night Massacre, when the leadership of the DOJ resigned rather than carry out Nixon’s order to fire Special Counsel Archibald Cox.

The heroes keep revealing themselves and in turn provide lessons for us.
Trump doesn't care who quits their job. He only wants loyalists. He is a malignant narcissist who gets off on power. I'm beyond fearful of what's to come. Where is the resistance?
