As long as people have to pay for many of these subscriptions, the news and important analysis that you and others provide, will not reach the population that needs to hear it. I will have to remain a free subscriber at least in the short term for now. You are a gift to us…keep up the good work of educating us. Thank you.

Thank you for allowing free subscribers to comment. At 90, expecting to lose Social Security and Medicare, recognizing that I’m supposed to be dead, I am, since 2016 and the discovery of MSNBC, a postcard writing member of Indivisible. Today is 1941-42 all over again. May our underground be as successful as the best of them (notwithstanding the criticism of the French resistance, I found stories I heard during 10 years in the French countryside amazing and creative) and may we blunt quickly the effects of the criminal president.

I am one of the free subscribers and may remain so - I’m 82 and on a very limited budget. I do hope to be able to access much of The Contrarian, including essays by you, Mr. Weissmann.

Near minute 50 in the Archibald Cox press conference:

Journalist, …”how could you expect to succeed at this job, why did you do it?”

Cox, “ Well, I thought it was worth a try. I thought if it could be done, it would help the country. And, if I lost, what the hell.”

All i know about law I’ve learned from Andrew and Mary McCord! But, in watching this press conference, I’m struck by so many civilities that were present then - not just the tone of voice and courteous speech, but the thoughtfulness and intentions that are behind those words. (And so very much like Andrew.) …from both the Special Prosecutor and the journalists.

I also feel such a great loss because this opportunity wasn’t taken by Jack Smith or, indeed, Merrick Garland.

I feel most disappointed by Garland. Who, in my opinion, wanted (and waited) to ensure the rule of law (was properly followed), that in the end, he impeded (the rule of law) democracy and most important justice to take place. And, those in 45’s court counted on his MO until the end😞. I don’t believe I will experience a greater political or judicial disappointment than the one of 45 getting away with not one but all the crimes he has along with his biggest one yet, becoming president of USA one more time.

Stopped watching MSNBC, CNN, and the rest after the election. Trump threatened many including you to arrest and jailed. I think he hates you for your analysis and this should be good enough for all those in pursuit of truth. Subscribed.

Thank you for this, Counselor! I am on a limited income so will remain a free subscriber. I am very grateful to you for making available to everyone your analysis of whatever legal, ethical, and/or morally reprehensible endeavor (and there will be many) in which the new administration engages.

So great to follow you on Substack! I see you on Deadline White House all the time! Random question- in your segments from your home office, there’s a painting or mosaic piece of art over your desk of a very wide floral arrangement. Can you she the name of the artist? It’s a gorgeous piece!

someone sent me the link to find your answers but when I went there, I was told that it’s only for paid subscribers. Thanks a lot. I know people need to get paid for their time and expertise, but some of us just can’t handle all of the subscriptions. I have one for Mary Trump, but because of a car accident some years ago, a drunk driver hit me and then ran away and a lame fucking lawyer who tanked a simple case, I was left with nothing . my very successful art career ended that day. I couldn’t continue artwork orwriting my book because I had double vision for eight months ! a lot of bad injuries that required two major surgeries. After three years of trying to recover, my husband had a nervous breakdown and ran away. Thanks sweetheart. I’m still trying to climb back into my life, into income mode, but right now I can’t afford more than one subscription because I make no money. i’m looking for a brilliant, creative lawyer, an appellet lawyer, who can sue the disgusting, lame lawyer, who tanked my very simple case, allowed the drunk driver who hit me and ran away, to lie and say that I caused the accident! ( I was stopped at a stop sign when she violently ran into me in a huge car, 2000 pounds heavier than my small Honda) . I need to find a lawyer before my time runs out, to get some compensation for all these injuries and all these losses . if anybody out there knows somebody really good who gives a damn, it should be worth a number of millions of dollars and i’m happy to share !

it’s not about money so much but I’d like to be pulled out of the hole I’ve been thrown into. I repay my sons for the help. They’ve given me the last couple of years since my savings ran out.I need to be an artist again, and I’m writing a book that I finally got finished this week. That will help. There’s so much I can do for other people like I always used to, but I need to get myself back again first. Please See my website www.lynnmatsuoka.com

I’d appreciate any reference to a really damn fucking good lawyer. Somebody who will listen! I’ve called some of the ambulance chasers that advertise on TV who are ‘there for you!’ and they won’t talk to me. If it’s not a slam dunk, they’re too lazy to bother. I need quality and somebody with a passion to win. I have a ton of evidence to prove that I was the victim, not the perp! Sorry to rant, but between Trump, musk, the lousy lawyer, and the drunk driver, I’m getting to the end of my possibility to be patient. cheers.
