Blanche symbolizes the very worst qualities of lawyers and thoroughly disgraces the profession. The thought that Donald Trump is trying to foist his personal criminal defense lawyer on the American people as the country's chief law enforcement attorney is revolting. The Senate needs to protect us from him.
Whoever is nominated will be confirmed by the senate GOP. They do not care about the rule of law or America. They care about money. They do not care about our national security. They don’t care about health, clean water, food or air. They don’t care about anyone but themselves and their money.
At least that is all it looks like to me since the guy descended that escalator.

Dear Senator (your senator)
I am writing as your constituent to urge you to vote against the confirmation of Todd Blanche as Attorney General of the United States. The Attorney General must be someone whose loyalty is to the Constitution and the impartial rule of law, not to any individual president. Mr. Blanche's record during his time at the Department of Justice demonstrates that he cannot be trusted to serve as the nation's chief law enforcement officer.
His handling of the Epstein files and Ghislaine Maxwell raises serious questions. As Deputy Attorney General, Mr. Blanche oversaw the department's review and release of files related to Jeffrey Epstein, a process that has been widely criticized for its lack of transparency and for failing to fully comply with the law Congress passed requiring disclosure of all related documents. He also personally interviewed Ghislaine Maxwell while she was serving her sentence for sex trafficking crimes, and shortly afterward she was moved to a lower-security facility. The appearance of leniency toward someone convicted of trafficking children, following a personal meeting with the man who would go on to lead the Justice Department, is deeply troubling and warrants full accountability rather than promotion to the department's top post.
He has used the DOJ to pursue the President's political enemies. Under Mr. Blanche's leadership, the department has pursued indictments and investigations against individuals the President has publicly attacked, including former FBI Director James Comey, New York Attorney General Letitia James, former CIA Director John Brennan, and the Southern Poverty Law Center. Career prosecutors and DOJ veterans have raised alarms that these actions reflect political retaliation rather than the evenhanded application of the law. A Justice Department that targets a president's perceived adversaries, rather than following the facts and the law, corrodes the public's trust in equal justice.
He has failed to recuse himself despite an obvious conflict of interest. Mr. Blanche served as President Trump's personal criminal defense attorney before joining the Justice Department. Having represented the President in his personal legal matters, he should have recused himself from decisions touching the President's interests or adversaries. Instead, he has continued to run a department that investigates and prosecutes the President's critics while shielding the President's own interests, effectively functioning as the President's personal law firm rather than as an independent Department of Justice. This is precisely the kind of conflict the recusal rules exist to prevent, and his unwillingness to step aside from these matters should disqualify him from being trusted with even greater authority.
He has also overseen the mass removal of career DOJ employees, in many cases reportedly for working on cases disfavored by the President or for adjudicating matters according to the law rather than political preference, further weakening the department's independence and institutional integrity.
For these reasons, I do not believe Todd Blanche can be trusted to serve as Attorney General, an office that demands independence, evenhanded enforcement of the law, and undivided loyalty to the Constitution rather than to any one individual. I respectfully urge you to vote against his confirmation.
